This is what I bought.
This is what I made.
I have wanted to make a One Block Wonder for a long time, but always hesitated because they take so much fabric, and I didn't want to spend that much money for something that didn't work out. The book is written by Maxine Rosenthal. There is even a second book now.
This little quilt is only about 42" x 50" and took 6 yards of fabric. See all those little seams.
This fabric was on super clearance for $1.99 a yard, and loosely fit the criteria for fabric selection. If I do another I will choose my fabric a little more wisely. But anyway it is kind of a fun quilt. I learned what I needed to in the process and may make another someday, but not until I recover from this one!
I quilted it all over with little pumpkins. After I started this, I realized it was a waste of time since the fabric was so busy you really can't see the quilting. But I didn't want to rip out the little I had done and it was good practice anyway.
I spent a lot of time in my sewing room this weekend. Lots of these all over the floor.
I worked on some leader and ender blocks that I had started. They are going to go into Patches and Pinwheels pattern from the Quiltville Website.
I put borders on one quilt and almost finished putting the blocks together for my second OC. I did this one less scrappy and it is turning out better than the first. I hope to get two more flimsies quilted this week for Peg's Challenge. We will see.
Well I am going to vacuum the sewing room (maybe), start some laundry (definitely) and continue sewing (hopefully).

I had a bit of a giggle at your statement about who would buy that fabric, and was trying to think of something polite to say. Then I saw what you did with it, and all I can say is WOW, terrific result from less than attractive fabric. Amazing how different fabrics look when they are cut up and sewn up again. Love it.

I do think that in fabric stores somtimes! But your quilt is fantastic. It has such a sense of humor. I especially love the pumpkins.
WOW that doesn't even look like the same fabric. Very very cool.
I love the way the colours seem to go in and out of each other, fading and never jostling.

Donna - I LOVE that quilt. Its so so different and lovely. Its so artistic. Actually I love that fabric, too! What can be sweeter than a pasture. And your new project looks fun. My kids always say to me "Mom what did you do in here to make such a mess, we just vacuumed and now there is fabric and thread all over again!" It makes me glad to see I need to vacuume several times a week in my sewing room!

Wow, I have seen this One Block Wonder made from some pretty fabric and they turn out great but ugly fabric is even better. Beautiful! I never would have thought this would be this amazing, great job! I hate to admit this but I have some of this fabric. I made my 3 year old grandson a John Deer tractor quilt for Christmas and I used this as backing. I had quite a bit left over and wondered what in the world I would do with it...You have inspired me. My first thought on seeing the original fabric was ... well it would make a great backing for a kid's quilt!! Seeing it's transformation with the One Block Wonder pattern is fantastic!! Congrats to you on a stunning quilt and great quilting too :)

OH WOW!! The OBW is wonderful........ I never would have thought that the cow fabric would have turned out so beautiful when used like that. Way to go!

I just love this quilt! Who would have thought it would turn out this way, only a quilt artist like you! Beautiful. (I am reminded of some of my favorite commercials where the cows in California are always talking.)
Now lookey here, I love that fabric and wanted to buy it, but it was about $16 a yard here. (we live on a farm, what can I say *LOL*!!)
Love what you've done with it although I would have done something more tame for my boys :-))
